Hello Caregivers!
Early Learning Day & Classroom Visits
Tuesday, April 2nd is Early Learning & Classroom Visit Day at Highland Park Elementary. We invite all incoming Kinder students and their caregivers to attend this informational event.
During the 30 minute classroom visit, students will visit a Kindergarten classroom and participate in learning activities while parents remain in the cafeteria and hear from Principal Peña and members of the HP Faculty, learn about programs sponsored by the PTA, receive enrollment help, and more.
Not a Kinder student? No problem! All new-to-Highland Park families are welcome. We will also have classroom visit opportunities for non-Kinder students.
Registration & Enrollment
Austin ISD registration will re-open on April 2nd. Caregivers can complete the registration process on the Austin ISD Enroll Page . Copies of the following documents are required to complete enrollment:
- Child's birth certificate
- Child's immunization records
- Child's SSN card (optional)
- Parent/Guardian photo ID
- Proof of address (current electric or gas bill, lease or mortgage statement only)
Highland Park has a number of resources for on its website to help prepare your student for the transition to Kindergarten. In addition to the documents above, please complete the attached Student Info Sheet and return to the Registrar, CC Luna cc.luna@austinisd.org or bring it with you on Early Learning Day. Your honest and candid response to this form helps to place students with various skill levels across all classrooms.
Summer Camp, Play Dates & More!
Scottie Summer Pup Camp has a few spots remaining for incoming Kinder. Details and registration information can be found on the website or by contacting Lynn Tellechea lynn.tellechea@austinisd.org
School supply lists and a link to pre-purchase supplies from Sprout coming soon! Supplies are shared among students in Kinder. We recommend purchasing supplies through Sprout so all your student's supplies will be at their desk, ready to go, on the first day of school!
If your family requires financial assistance or has a unique need related to school, please complete the 2024-2025 Scottie Support Form. All responses are confidential and only viewed by HP Counselors, Cari Land & Nicole Lozo, who will respond and help answer any questions.

Thursday, May 30th - Kinder Play Date, 3:00 p.m. at Perry Park
Thursday, August 1st - Kinder Play Date, 10:00 a.m. at Perry Park
Monday, August 19th Rally Day and Meet the Teacher! Popsicles on the Playground to follow.
